Dinuba police are investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 9-year-old boy dead.

DINUBA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Authorities are investigating a hit-and-run crash in Dinuba that left a 9-year-old boy dead.

The crash happened around 5:30 p.m. Sunday near Road 72 and Nutcracker Avenue.

A witness says six or seven young boys were playing football down the road, when a car came onto the curb, hit the 9-year-old boy and took off. The boy died at the scene.

The mother of one of the boys was in a nearby garage and heard the crash. She says she ran after the car, begging for the driver to stop, but the car kept going.

Dinuba police say they are getting conflicting statements as to what kind of car the suspect was driving, so they have not released the make, model or color of the vehicle.

The suspect could face felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter charges.
