Thousands brave the heat to attend the Kings County Fair
Soaring temperatures had fairgoers in the South Valley trying to stay cool any way they could on Saturday.

HANFORD, Calif. (KFSN) -- Soaring temperatures had fair-goers in the South Valley trying to stay cool any way they could on Saturday.

Sara, if you head straight back from the main entrance, you'll find all the fair animals. And while there is plenty of shade there, in this kind of heat, animal owners had to do more.

Despite the triple digit heat, the show, like the Junior Livestock Auction at the Kings County Fair, must go on -- even if the animals aren't happy about it. Caileigh Butchnoff, 16, said she just keeps spraying them and giving them water.

Saturday is heroes day at the fair, where all military gets in free.

Sunday is Dollar Day before 6 p.m.
