Freedom Fest fireworks show in Clovis is moving this year
The 4th of July is almost here and the City of Clovis is preparing for its annual Freedom Fest.

CLOVIS, Calif. (KFSN) -- The 4th of July is almost here and the City of Clovis is preparing for its annual Freedom Fest. However, this year, the event is moving to Clovis High School.

A dazzling display of fireworks will soon fill the skies over Clovis as part of the annual Freedom Fest. Hours before the fireworks go off, employees are working hard to create the perfect show.

"Fireworks is a part of Clovis now, it's embedded in their culture," said Daniel Lantis, Fireworks America pyrotechnic operator.

Lantis is overseeing this year's fireworks show at Clovis High. He says each display is carefully set up for a full show of fireworks that will impress valley residents. "We will see a lot of red, white and blue, you'll see some shells that are balanced and spell out U.S.A. A lot of different colors, you'll hear a salute, which is a big pop. We have a couple hundred of those going up at the every end. It will rattle some windows."

This year, the action will take place in a different area of Clovis, at Clovis High, instead of at Buchanan High's Veterans Stadium. Signs on Herndon are up to alert residents. "The fireworks show, we've been doing this since 1998 usually it was at Buchanan. This year we've moved it to Clovis High School because of the track reconstruction over at Buchanan."

The Clovis Kiwanis Club is putting on the event. They hope people across the Valley will turn out to enjoy the holiday. Admission is $5 and residents can bring chairs.

While the fireworks are the attraction, organizers say they feel fortunate to live in this great country. "Independence. It's a celebration of our independence," said Bruce Wilson, Clovis Kiwanis Freedom Fest committee.

A celebration Clovis looks forward to every year.
